Famous comedian Zarna Garg blasts Hermes after ‘getting stuck in store bathroom for over an hour’

Famous comedian Zarna Garg put celeb-loved luxury brand Hermès on blast after she alleged that she was stuck in a bathroom at its Berlin store for over an hour – and was met with a rude response from store employees.

The comedian, who has over three million followers across TikTok and Instagram, took to social media to share her experience, as she filmed the whole saga from inside the store’s small restroom.

For many fashion aficionados, the brand’s iconic accessories are an ultimate status symbol reserved only for celebrities, socialites and the ultra-wealthy, sometimes costing hundreds of thousands of dollars for just one bag. 

However, the bathroom in the luxury store seemed to tell a different story, as the door was made of a piece of sliding wood.

In the video, Garg filmed herself in the bathroom, as she told the camera that the sliding door simply wouldn’t open.

The store employees then tried to open the door, as one employee could be heard scolding her for closing the door all the way.

When the store employees were unsuccessful in opening the stuck door, Garg’s family, who had accompanied her, urged them to call the fire department.

The fire department were ultimately able to free Garg after a grueling hour and 20 minutes.

‘No apology, no explanation, not a word of comfort was offered,’ Garg wrote in a lengthy caption accompanying the post. 

‘Not even to my kids or team who were watching in horror on the other side,’ she typed.

Garg also captured the aftermath on camera, which captured the comedian claiming that they got ‘no apology’ from the store, except for a bottle of champagne, which she refused. 

‘After an hour of being locked, I don’t need a bottle of champagne,’ she said. ‘I’m good.’

As the family left the store, another employee could also be heard telling them that he had told Garg’s daughter that the door on the bathroom was broken, to which Garg disagreed.

‘Nobody told us that,’ the comedian said. 

‘You think we wanted to get locked in there?’ she continued. ‘Not one person said the door was broken.’

In the caption, Garg explained that at first, she ‘made light’ of the situation, but then things started to take a turn. 

‘We started recording thinking we’ll make a funny video about what you can do when locked in a bathroom,’ Garg wrote.

‘I made an origami village of paper towels and played games like guess how many towels I’m holding.’

But as more and more time passed, she and her family became increasingly alarmed.  

‘As time went on, we got concerned that they were making no headway and demanded the managers call the Fire Department. The store was adamant that the door needed to be protected!’ Garg’s message read. 

‘It became clear that we were in a hostile territory,’ the comedian wrote. 

She claimed that they had asked her to start pushing on the door, but then yelled ‘back away’ while trying to unjam the door with a ‘crowbar.’ 

‘Alarms went off and I was scared that they had some equipment to blow the door open and possibly injure me,’ Garg wrote. 

‘After an hour and 20 minutes, I make it out. No one says a word, apologizes, or makes eye contact with me,’ she claimed.

‘On the way out, an associate pushes a cheap bottle of champagne into my hands. A peace offering? We declined and they closed the door behind us and locked it shut.’

Garg later took to her podcast, The Zarna Garg Family podcast, to share more about the situation. 

Her daughter, Zoya, called their experience in the store the ‘worst treatment’ that she’s ever seen. 

The family also pointed out that there should have been a sign on the door stating that it wasn’t working if it was ‘so dangerous.’
