Footy great Phil Gould takes a photo in a toilet for social media – then rushes to delete the post because it showed WAY too much

Bulldogs boss and Channel Nine star Phil Gould has deleted a tweet featuring a photo he took inside a public toilet cubicle when he realised that it was far too revealing.

The footy legend put up the post on X showing the back of a toilet door accompanied by the caption, ‘Toilets, where the doors come all the way down to the floor … Who thinks of this stuff? … Brilliant’.

However, the surface of the door was highly polished and the 67-year-old’s reflection could easily be seen as he sat down to relieve himself.

Gould deleted that and followed up with another post reading, ‘Whoops … How funny … #costanza’.

The Costanza hashtag is a reference to the George Costanza character from the TV show Seinfeld, who was known for his knowledge of public toilets on the program.

Gould’s followers had a field day when they saw the post.

‘No dramas Gus, couldn’t see anything, smooth as a Ken doll,’ one wrote.

‘No No No No No…what were you thinking?’ added another.

‘Can’t believe Gus just sent the whole world a d**k pic and said whoops and it’s play on,’ a third said.

‘Hope you put your shirt back on,’ a fourth commented, referring to George Costanza’s habit of taking his top off when he went to the bathroom.

The slip-up comes after Gould opened up about the serious health problem that saw him spend several days in hospital just before the NRL grand final.

News of his drama broke on the night of the code’s glitzy Dally M awards as it was reported that the Dogs general manager had been in hospital for three days with ‘serious health concerns’ and was awaiting tests on a possible heart condition.

The following morning, Gould opened up about what happened in a post on X.

‘Thank you to all the very kind well-wishers. Greatly appreciated,’ he wrote.

‘Everything is ok. My regular blood tests this week, showed up something else that needed investigation.

‘Basically, I came in to change the tyres, and they found a problem with the engine. Go figure. I’m lucky they found it early.

‘The Doctors and Hospital staff have been simply amazing, but hopefully I’m going home soon. Looking forward to Grand Final Day. Best wishes to all. Thanks again.’

The stay in hospital prevented Gould from filling his usual role on Channel Nine’s 100% Footy show, and he also missed out on recording the broadcaster’s Six Tackles with Gus podcast.

Host Mat Thompson revealed that Gould’s health issues have been troubling him for weeks.

‘Now some serious business to start, over the last few weeks my man Gus has had some health issues unfortunately,’ he said.

‘And viewers of 100% Footy would’ve seen he was absent from the show on Monday and unfortunately he can’t be with me this week either.

Concerns were raised earlier this year when the former Canterbury and Penrith coach published a photo on social media after undergoing eye surgery.

The 67-year-old wore a see-through eye-patch over his ‘new eye’, and took a short break from rugby league following the scheduled procedure.

He showed off his bandages on social media, adding a caption: ‘And there it is … A new eye.’

Gould, who has over 75,000 followers on X, also revealed that he has already booked in with his doctor to get his other eye done at some stage in the future.
