Fuming ex-Man City star Leroy Sane tells Galatasaray chiefs he is ‘unhappy’ in crunch talks after being DROPPED as German star’s struggles in Turkey continue

It is anything but Turkish delight for former Manchester City and Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane, amid reports that he is unhappy with his role at Galatasaray.

According to Turkish newspaper Sabah, the 30-year-old winger has made it known to club officials that he is displeased at his lack of playing time.

They add that he does not see himself as someone who will only make cameos for the club.

Sane was named in their starting XI for their season-opening 2-2 home draw with 10-man Corum on August 14 but has since been dropped to the bench for their following two matches – with Yunus Akgun taking his spot.

He came off the bench on 65 minutes during a 4-0 win at Erzurumspor – with Gala already 3-0 ahead – on August 21. Then in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Goztepe he came on with 17 minutes remaining in the second half as the Turkish giants held on.

Galatasaray sit top of the Turkish Super Lig ahead of Friday’s trip to city rivals Istanbul Basaksehir but it is yet to be seen what role Sane will have.

Competition on the flanks will have only increased following Gala’s recent purchase of Rafael Leao from AC Milan – although the Portugal international is primarily a left-winger, whereas Sane plays on the right.

However, if Leao does start on the left on Friday then that could see regular starter Baris Alper Yilmaz move to the right wing, which would further hinder Sane’s chances.

Germany international Sane joined Galatasaray on a free transfer from Bayern Munich in June 2025 on a three-year contract – with the club announcing he will earn a guaranteed £7.66million a year, external plus a loyalty bonus.

In his first season at the club, he won the Turkish Super Lig and Turkish Super Cup – scoring seven goals and providing nine assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.
