Pride month just got a little more dateable.
TV veteran and fashion influencer Darren Kennedy has launched “Heyy Gay!,” a new LGBTQ dating show premiering on YouTube and Instagram.
“In a world of swiping and algorithms, it felt like the right time to create something that leans into real life connection, spontaneity and the fun of seeing what happens when two strangers meet face-to-face,” Kennedy said. I’ve always had a knack for matchmaking in my personal life — maybe it’s an Irish thing — so ‘Heyy Gay!’ felt like the perfect opportunity to bring that instinct into my professional world.
He continued, “More than ever, I feel there is a yearning for connection that feels more human, more playful and more real. This show is about creating the space for that to happen.”
The series is produced by MixTape Content House, the production company founded by former Hello Sunshine SVP of Unscripted Sue Kinkead and director Ryan Bunnell.
“Partnering with Darren on ‘Heyy Gay!’ has been a dream collaboration,” Kinkead said. “He brings fun, charm and a genuine interest in helping people connect, along with the unfiltered questions everyone wants answered. And with one successful marriage already under his matchmaking belt, we couldn’t have asked for a better host.”
Kennedy is a contributing editor to The Daily Front Row. He has appeared on “Dancing with the Stars Ireland,” NBC’s “Access Daily,” BBC One’s “You Are What You Wear,” “Virgin Media Television’s “The Six O Clock” and ITV’s “This Morning.” His documentary “Gay Daddy” was described as a “watershed moment” in Irish television history. “The Unemployables,” which Kennedy co-devised and hosted, was nominated for best new TV format at the European Broadcasting Union Awards.
