Health: Providing 8.4 million medical services in medical facilities in Sohag Governorate within 11 months
The Ministry of Health and Population announced the provision of 8,429,423 medical services to the people of Sohag Governorate, during the period from January to November 2025, in implementation of the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, as part of the state’s efforts to improve the health system and achieve Egypt’s Vision 2030.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman, explained The Ministry stated that hospitals provided 4,516,383 medical services, including emergency, outpatient clinics, intensive care, dialysis, physical therapy, and surgical operations, in addition to 62,979 services through 72 medical convoys targeting the most remote and needy areas.
In the field of development, 15 dialysis machines were provided and distributed to Sadr Shandawil, Akhmim Central, and Sohag Fever Hospitals, and the burns unit was established. And complementary surgeries, and the opening of the multiple sclerosis unit and the stroke treatment unit at Sohag General Hospital, in addition to the opening of the cardiac catheterization department at Tahta General Hospital, with the doubling of intensive care beds to 229 beds.
The development also included the opening of the endoscopy unit and the addition of modern medical equipment, the establishment of the first specialized department for treating children at Sohag Fever Hospital, the development and operation of the therapeutic medical center in Shatoura, and the partial opening of For Tama Central Hospital to operate 16 specialized clinics.
The spokesman indicated that Dar es Salaam Central Hospital was partially restarted after an 11-year hiatus, with the operation of reception and emergency departments, 11 specialized clinics, radiology, laboratory and pharmacy, in addition to the inauguration of retina units in Ramad Sohag and Tahta hospitals, and the completion of the development of Saqlata Central Hospital.
At the primary care level, 3 million and 913 thousand and 40 services were provided through 329 family medicine centers, 12 urban centers and 4 child care centers, with 9 health units accredited by the Health Accreditation and Control Authority, and the specialist service was activated in 11 health units.
For his part, Dr. Amr Dowidar, Undersecretary of the Ministry in Sohag, confirmed the operation of 15 health facilities within the “Decent Life” initiative, Pointing to examining 2,160 complaints and responding to them to improve the quality of services.
He added that continuing medical education is a priority, with the implementation of training courses for medical and administrative staff to raise the efficiency of performance and care for citizens.
He stressed the intensification of traffic campaigns on non-governmental medical facilities and taking measures against violations, in addition to oversight campaigns on food establishments to ensure health requirements and protection. Citizens.
