Helena Christensen, 57, is still every inch the supermodel as she makes her grand entrance at Derby Day in an incredibly chic tweed off-the-shoulder dress by Aussie designer who reveals her ‘warm and grounded’ personality

She is one of the most iconic supermodels of our time, and Helena Christensen well and truly proved she still has the ‘it’ factor as she attended Derby Day at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday.

The 57-year-old showed off her incredible figure in a custom-made piece by Australian designer Rebecca Vallance, who joined the Danish beauty wearing another custom piece from her popular brand.

Designed exclusively for the occasion, the two looks offered a contemporary interpretation of Derby Day’s traditional black-and-white dress code, showcasing the label’s approach to sculptural silhouettes, refined tailoring and modern femininity.

Attending as an exclusive guest of Lexus, Helena’s appearance marked a special moment in the fashion house’s partnership with Lexus for the 2026 Melbourne Cup Carnival.

The brunette perfectly accessorised her tweed ensemble with a stunning black wide-brimmed hat by Nerida Winter and added a splash of colour by wearing a scarlet-hued lipstick and makeup which enhanced her natural, youthful beauty.

Rebecca, who counts Helena among her close friends, told Daily Mail her friend ‘has an incredible sense of style’.

‘She’s effortlessly elegant, but always brings something unexpected to the way she dresses,’ she said.

‘She’s also a close friend, so creating something custom for her has been particularly special.

‘We wanted a look that felt distinctly Helena, while celebrating the elegance and tradition of Derby Day.’

Rebecca and Helena met at a fashion industry event overseas, and Rebecca shared what the statuesque brunette is really like away from the camera.

‘She’s incredibly warm and grounded, and it’s lovely to now be sharing such a special occasion together,’ she said.

‘It’s always more fun sharing these occasions with a girlfriend. Derby Day is one of my favourite events on the Melbourne social calendar, and I’m especially excited to be experiencing it with Helena this year.’

Rebecca, who often dresses the royal family and celebrities such as Paris and Nicky Hilton and Kelly Osbourne, and who was recently named one of fashion’s most powerful people globally, shows no signs of slowing down and plans to expand her brand internationally next year.

We have some very exciting plans for 2027 as we continue to grow internationally, but there’s still plenty happening before the end of this year!’ she told the Daily Mail.

‘In November, we’re heading to London to unveil our collaborative Christmas tree with AKI London, which we’ll celebrate with a special event.

‘I’ve also recently been appointed to the Advisory Board for the 2026 Fashion Trust Arabia Prize, which is an incredible honour. It’s a wonderful opportunity to support emerging talent alongside some of the industry’s most respected international leaders.

‘We’re incredibly fortunate to dress so many inspiring women around the world, including members of royal families, and those relationships are something we really value.’

Helena’s dazzling modelling career was launched when she won the Miss Universe Denmark title in 1986 and went on to reach staggering heights.

She became a household name after appearing in Chris Isaak’s song Wicked Game music video and then went on to become one of the original Victoria’s Secret Angels.

As for her personal life, Helena dated the late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence for five years in the early 1990s.

In 1998 she began a relationship with The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus, 57, for five years.

They welcomed their son, Mingus Lucien Reedus, 27, in 1999. The couple separated in 2003 but remained happy co-parents.

Helena later dated Interpol singer Paul Banks, 48, for seven years.

Earlier this year, Helena celebrated Mother’s Day with her son Mingus, sharing a sweet snap of them having lunch.
