The 64-year-old public speaker spent 22 years on death row for a rape and murder he did not commit before being exonerated by DNA testing in 2003 and he later received a $4 million settlement in 2008.
‘Theatre has a unique power to move us,’ Kardashian – who boasts 515.1 million social media followers – said via Instagram story.
‘When you experience a story like this live, it stays with you. It challenges you to see the human being behind the statistic. My hope is that this production sparks a real conversation about the true meaning of justice.’
The Skims CCO continued: ‘For the past decade, criminal justice reform has been a deeply personal mission of mine. I’ve seen firsthand how the system can fail, and I’ve committed myself to fighting for those who have been silenced.’
Kardashian always dreamed of following the footsteps of her late father Robert Kardashian, who was part of the late OJ Simpson’s ‘dream team’ of defense attorneys at his 1995 murder trial.
However, the aspiring attorney — who believes the 1969 Moon landing was fake — discovered she failed the State Bar of California exam on November 7 due to not scoring the minimal 1,390 out of 2,000 points.
Producing The Fear of 13 is purely a promotional and financial (not creative) role for Kardashian, who’s now eligible for a potential Tony Award for best play.
The Fear of 13 was already fully produced and premiered at the Donmar Warehouse on London’s West End in 2024, and it’s been in previews on Broadway since March 19.
The Calabasas socialite will likely attend the opening night festivities this Wednesday at the James Earl Jones Theatre in Midtown Manhattan, and director David Cromer’s acclaimed play runs through July 12.
