Lauren Boebert blasts ‘politically motivated’ ethics complaint that accuses her of having sex with staffers and paying hush money

Firebrand Congresswoman Lauren Boebert denied ‘politically motivated’ claims made in a House Ethics Committee complaint that alleged she had sex with staffers.

Boebert, a onetime ally to Donald Trump who has since antagonized the President with her push to release the Epstein files, was also accused of paying hush money over the allegations.  

‘Congresswoman Lauren Boebert rejects these allegations as utterly false and there is no truth to them whatsoever,’ a spokesperson told The Daily Mail. 

‘This is nothing more than a politically motivated stunt designed to manipulate the ethics process, create headlines, smear her, and generate clickbait.’ 

The complaint accuses Boebert of engaging in sexual relationships with three current and former staff members and paying out $200,000 in hush money to one staffer ‘to secure her silence and forestall the threatened complaint.’ 

Boebert’s office also suggested that the complaint, filed by journalist David Wheeler, follows a pattern of repeated lies about Boebert. 

‘They come from an activist who has long recycled sensational claims, including numerous baseless accusations previously fact-checked as false,’ the rep said.

Wheeler’s website features a graphic that says ‘Fire Boebert’ and has published a coloring book with a drawing of Boebert on the cover. 

In a lengthy response when reached by The Daily Mail for comment, Wheeler issued a list of statements from Boebert that he claimed displayed a lack of truthfulness. 

‘Lauren Boebert clearly has a problem telling the truth and taking responsibility for her actions,’ Wheeler said. 

‘We stand 100 percent by our story and sources… my job is to expose Lauren Boebert for the fraud she is with facts.’

The Colorado lawmaker has been in the president’s crosshairs of late over the Epstein files and her support of anti-Trump Republican Thomas Massie.

The president previously mocked the congresswoman as ‘Weak-Minded Lauren Boebert’ while accusing her of betraying the MAGA movement by campaigning alongside Massie.

Bobert replied to the president’s attack by stating that she was ‘not mad or offended.’ ‘I knew the risks when I agreed to stand by my friend Thomas Massie,’ she added. 

The Trump-Boebert tensions have deeper roots. Massie, a longtime Trump nemesis, revealed on Tucker Carlson’s podcast earlier this month that Boebert was hauled into the Situation Room last year and pressured to withdraw her name from a discharge petition forcing a House vote on the Epstein files.

The MAGA-aligned congresswoman didn’t budge. 

As payback, Trump in December vetoed the Finish the Arkansas Valley Conduit Act, killing a water pipeline earmarked for communities across southeastern Colorado – a region that makes up roughly a third of the state.

‘The President vetoed a bill that would’ve brought water to a large portion of Colorado,’ Massie told Carlson, before questioning why Boebert’s constituents were being punished for her stance on the files.

Boebert has led the charge in the House – along with colleagues Nancy Mace of South Carolina and Anna Paulina Luna of Florida – to call out and hold accountable lawmakers, both Democrats and Republicans, accused of sexual misconduct.

She has publicly questioned why certain politicians are ‘so horny’ and stated that members facing such accusations need to ‘find Jesus.’

Boebert recently voted to censure Republican Congressman Chuck Edwards of North Carolina after it was revealed that he gave lavish gifts – including towers of ice cream and firearms – to young female staffers and wrote them poems.

A House Ethics Committee found him guilty of ‘persistent unprofessional and inappropriate conduct’ with the younger staffers.

Edwards apologized to his wife for his actions and denied that he ever meant anything inappropriate, but decided not to seek re-election.

Boebert has been a vocal critic of former Democratic lawmakers Eric Swalwell and Tony Gonzales, who both resigned from Congress after allegations of sexual misconduct.

Boebert called for them to be stripped of their pensions following the explosive allegations, which both have denied.

In March, Boebert called it ‘absolutely disgusting’ after Republicans blocked a measure that would require records on congressional sexual misconduct probes to be made public.

Boebert has also been, at times, a thorn in the side of Republican leaders on Capitol Hill.

When former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was being deposed over the Epstein files in New York back in February, Boebert took a photograph of her during the private session. She then leaked the image to  MAGA influencer Benny Johnson. 

The move prompted Hillary’s lawyers to ask that the proceedings be halted after the photograph began circulating on social media. It is strictly prohibited for lawmakers or witnesses to take pictures inside a closed-door congressional testimony.

Boebert departed the site of testimony shortly after leaking the image.  

Boebert is running for reelection to the House of Representatives in a new district after winning a primary race that she jumped into last year, surviving a scandal over a video of her at a Denver theater and accusations of carpetbagging after fleeing what could have been a tough reelection bid in her current district.

Her resounding win over four other candidates in the new district showcased her political cachet among Republicans and positions her for a likely easy win in the November general election. 

Boebert responded to questions about her switch to the 4th District by saying, ‘While the crops may be slightly different here in CD4, the values are not.’

She promised to fight for policies including shutting down the Southern border and also signaled that she intends to continue her combative style. 

‘A lot of folks criticize my approach on things,’ Boebert said, ‘but I learned very early on in Washington, D.C., that nothing happens without force.’

Boebert built national hard-line conservative stardom that likely made it easier for her to weather the scandals of the last year, which included the video of her vaping and causing a disturbance at a musical production of ‘Beetlejuice.’

While the theater incident and district jump rattled some Republicans, voter Gilbert Kendzior shrugged them off, saying, ‘Who´s perfect?’

Kendzior said he voted for Boebert because she shakes things up. ‘It´s gotten too staid. Same promises, nothing happens,’ he said. ‘We need to get rid of the old farts.’

Boebert’s family has also been dragged into controversy, as her 21-year-old son recently pleaded guilty to child abuse charges. 

Tyler Boebert was facing a misdemeanor charge of child abuse without injury after he allegedly left his two-year-old son unattended at his mother’s home in Windsor, Colorado in February.

He has since accepted a deal from the Weld County District Attorney’s Office to plead guilty to charges of child abuse and negligence without injury, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. 

As part of the deal, the District Attorney’s Office suggested Tyler Boebert serve a maximum of 30 days in jail followed by 12 months supervised probation. 

Prosecutors have further asked that a judge mandate he complete a parenting program. 

Tyler, one of Boebert’s four children, was slapped with the charges after his son Josiah was found wandering away from the family’s house, which is close to a lake.

Boebert told 9News at the time that there’s ‘no excuse’ for her son’s actions and that she’s ‘very frustrated this happened.’
