She’s built a loyal following sharing smart money tips, but now Victoria Devine has gone viral for something far less expected – how she cleans her toilet.
The Melbourne mum, best known as the expert voice behind popular podcast She’s On The Money, has left thousands of followers stunned after revealing what she says is the only way to properly clean a toilet seat.
And it’s something most households have been completely overlooking.
In a candid video that quickly ‘blew up’ her inbox, Devine shared the simple step she swears by, which involves removing the entire toilet seat before cleaning it.
‘If you’re not removing the whole toilet seat to clean, are you really cleaning?’ she said in the clip which amassed 76,000 views in less than 12 hours.
While many people stick to a quick wipe-down, Victoria insisted that approach is missing some of the dirtiest spots.
‘Maybe you already know, maybe your mum just didn’t teach you, but I always take my toilet seat off when I’m cleaning the toilet.’
According to her, the hack is surprisingly easy once you know what to look for.

‘On the back of your toilet… there’s actually a button,’ she explained.
‘You put your hand around, press the button and the whole thing will easily lift off.’
From there, the process becomes far more thorough than a standard clean.
‘You can put the whole thing in the shower, pour bleach over it, and wash it off there.
‘Everything just gets really, really clean.’
The tip struck an immediate nerve online, with followers flooding her comments section in disbelief, and many rushing to test it for themselves.
‘Runs to toilet to check,’ one person wrote, while another joked: ‘Am I the only one getting out of bed at 9.30pm on a Sunday night to test this?’
Others said the discovery was nothing short of life-changing.

‘My dad taught me this less than 12 months ago and my life has been forever changed. I yelled at him for not telling me sooner,’ one follower shared.
‘I just checked my toilet, and it has two buttons near the hinges. Omg my life has changed!’ another added.
‘Life shook! Thank you from a toddler toilet training mumma,’ one parent wrote.
Of course, not everyone was entirely sold on the idea.
‘Only works for fancy new toilets not old school,’ one sceptic pointed out, while another admitted they’d be taking extra precautions.
‘Aw man even when it’s clean, I’d be wearing gloves & don’t let it touch your hair please,’ they said.
The real problem, Victoria said, lies in the hard-to-reach areas most people ignore.
‘You can clean all around the crevices… and then you just know that there’s nothing in any nooks and crannies.’
It’s these hidden spots, where grime, bacteria and residue can build up, that have clearly struck a chord, with many admitting they had no idea their toilet seat could even be removed.
While Devine is usually helping Australians get on top of their finances, this unexpected household tip has proven just as valuable.
