Premier League SPEED-GUN: 22.3mph Bradley Barcola beats Man United star to become the league’s fastest footballer in a rapid top 20 ranking – but which Spurs player is the SLOWEST outfielder?

Liverpool winger Bradley Barcola has been clocked as the fastest Premier League player in the top 20 speed rankings after five games.

Barcola, 24, joined the Reds in August for £123million from Paris Saint-Germain, where not only did he win two Champions League titles, but he also had a reputation for being rather speedy.

And in the latest top speed rankings on FotMob, he has been crowned king of the speedsters, clocking a rather rapid 22.3mph (35.9km/h) on the speed gun.

The sprint came during his Liverpool debut against Ipswich Town, which his side won 2-0, at the beginning of the month, where he was given heaps of space by the Tractor Boys to get those wheels turning.

However, in his two Premier League appearances that have followed – both starts – he has failed to hit the same heights in the speed department, while also struggling to find his feet in front of goal.

At the other end of the scale, the league’s slowest outfielder is Tottenham defender Tosin Adarabioyo.

The centre-back, who signed from rivals Chelsea in the summer, has been clocked no quicker than 13.3mph (21.4km/h).

Back at the top of the pile, Barcola – yet to register a goal or assist for the Reds – has beaten out Manchester United’s Bryan Mbeumo to the title.

The United winger just missed out on top spot, having clocked a marginally slower pace of 22mph (35.4km/h).

Behind Mbeumo there is a four-way tie for third, with the quartet of rapid stars clocking a marginally slower time than the Cameroonian.

Fulham’s Gonzalo Garcia, Coventry City full-back Milan van Ewijk, Pedro Neto of Chelsea and Hull City’s Robinio Vaz all recorded a top speed of 21.9mph (35.3km/h).

Slightly slower than them is Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy, who, despite his smaller role in the current Magpies team under Matthias Jaissle, has managed to clock 21.87mph (35.2km/h).

Bournemouth’s Brazilian wonderkid Rayan has been lauded for his first year in English football, terrorising defences from the right-hand side. 

A big part of the winger’s game is his pace down the flank, and he clocked a speed just a pinch slower than Murphy, with 21.8 mph (35.1km/h) to his name.

One of the big shocks is that Anthony Elanga, who many deem one of the fastest stars in Europe, sits in a lowly 12th, despite his rapid start to the campaign prior to injury.

His 21.68mph (34.9km/h) is comfortably slower than his top speed of 22.58mph (36.35km/h) from last season, which would have rocketed him to the top of this list.

Alexander Isak has been criticised for losing a yard of pace since his record £125m move to Liverpool last summer, but he makes the top 20 in 14th, with a top speed just 0.1mph slower than former team-mate Elanga.

What he seems to have regained this campaign, however, is his clinical touch. The Swede has had his best ever start to a Premier League season, with four goals from just five games – including his winner against Bournemouth on Sunday.

His Golden Boot rival Erling Haaland is known for his frightening pace, but he has only just squeezed into the top 20 through a six-way tie for 19th.

The Norwegian striker’s top speed of 21.5mph (34.6km/h) has been matched by Fulham’s roadrunner Antonee Robinson, Hull City’s Mohamed Belloumi, Liverpool’s impressive summer signing Jeremy Jacquet, fellow defender Josh Acheampong of Chelsea, and last but not least, Leeds’ Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

But what Haaland can’t be matched for is his ability to score goals, as he once again leads the scoring charts ahead of Isak.

The Manchester City man has netted five goals in as many games, in turn firing Enzo Maresca’s side to the top of the tree at the international break with a 100 per cent win record.
