Premier League star Sorba Thomas pictured for the first time since flipping his £160,000 Land Rover – before coming off the bench for Hull City’s clash with Chelsea just a day after accident

Sorba Thomas has made a substitute appearance for Hull City a day after he flipped his Land Rover on his way to training.

The 27-year-old walked away from the crash, which happened on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham at around 8.30am on Friday. His vehicle, a grey Land Rover Defender with a personalised number plate, was pictured on its roof, with broken windows.

The club said on Friday it was ‘relieved’ to hear its player, who joined the Tigers from Championship side Stoke City earlier this month, was unharmed.

In a statement Hull City said: ‘The club is aware of images of Sorba’s car circulating on social media and can reassure supporters that he has sustained no injuries and emerged from his vehicle completely unscathed.’

Thomas travelled to London and was pictured heading into Stamford Bridge ahead of Hull City’s Premier League clash against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon. He was brought on for Elliot Stroud in the 60th minute.

A woman who lives at the scene said the crash woke her up, the BBC reported.

‘I was laid in bed (and) heard a noise – crash, bang,’ she said. ‘I got up, come down and the car is in my hedge.’

An NHS worker who lives on the road said the incident had left him unable to go to work as the road was blocked.

‘There will be patients who will miss appointments because of this,’ he said.

Thomas, who has been capped 27 times by Wales, has now featured three times for the Tigers since joining for £10million on deadline day.

Hours before the crash, Jakirovic had praised the winger saying he had ‘no doubt’ about his capability to play in the Premier League.

He said: ‘I don’t have any doubt about Sorba because he made a difference in the Championship.

‘He is a left winger and we can use him inside like a left-sided number ten. He knows football. He is very good in delivery and his end product is good. Also, he has very good set-pieces.

‘He is sharp and has speed. Also, in defence, he is very responsible. I think he suits us a lot. Like always, I hope he can help us.’

Thomas started Tuesday night’s 1-0 Carabao Cup loss to Sunderland and made an appearance off the bench in the club’s 0-0 draw against Aston Villa in the Premier League.

After his cameo against the Europa League champions, Thomas shared his delight on Instagram. He posted: ‘Pinch (me) moment for me and my family today!!! Premier League debut.’
