RHONJ star Dolores Catania fiercely slammed for wearing bridal-like gown to son’s wedding

Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dolores Catania has been fiercely slammed online for wearing a bridal-like gown to her son’s wedding.

Catania’s son, Frank Jr, 27, tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Nicole Perricho, on August 1 in Portugal.

But when photos of Catania, 55, at the nuptials hit the web, some people accused the reality star of ‘upstaging’ the bride with her dress.

Catania donned a pale green silky halter gown that contained an enormous flower on the chest area, ruffles down the front and a thigh-slit in the skirt.

While the dress was a very light green, it appeared to look white in certain lighting, causing an uproar on social media.

Wearing white to a wedding is considered a huge no-no and Catania’s choice of dress was immediately met with ferocious backlash from fans.

After pictures and videos of her at the wedding appeared on Instagram, many fans took to the comment section to accuse her of committing the ultimate wedding fashion faux-pas.

‘Why is Dolores wearing the bride’s wedding dress?’ one user sarcastically quipped.

‘I thought only the bride wears white? Her dress looks very close to white?’ another agreed.

‘Was she thinking she was the bride?’ a different astounded user pondered.

‘Dolores… it’s not your day… it’s the bride’s,’ raged someone else.

‘That dress is ridiculous,’ read a fifth comment, while a sixth said: ‘Dolores, your dress looks like you upstaged the bride!’ 

‘Dolores….. I guess you didn’t get the memo that you should never try to overdo a bride. The dress is way over the top,’ commented another user.

‘Dolores wore white. Couldn’t even take the spotlight off of herself for her new daughter in law,’ slammed someone else.

Others, however, came to her defense and pointed out that the dress was not white. 

‘There we go again fashion police being horrible in the comments,’ one fan wrote.

‘Good grief her son gets married in the summer in Portugal and she wears something super fun. Get a grip,’ someone else chimed in.

‘Wrong! She looks absolutely stunning! And the dress is blue! I love it!’ praised a different user.

‘So sad that some people are just mean. Congratulations! Everyone looked stunning,’ gushed someone else. 

Frank Jr, whom Catania shares with her ex-husband Frank Catania, and Nicole got engaged in February 2025. 

According to People, the couple wed at the Vintage House in Douro Valley, Portugal, and they described the event as ‘relaxed, elegant and effortlessly romantic.’

Frank Jr explained that they chose to have the wedding there because Nicole’s family is from Portugal.

Nicole donned a custom couture gown from White House Bride designer Stacie Hiras while Frank Jr donned a custom Michael Andrews Bespoke NYC suit. 

Catania’s eyebrow-raising gown was created by Stephen Yearick head designer Leigh Price.
