Russia halts work on Il-112V aircraft
Work on the creation of the Il-112V light military transport aircraft in Russia has been suspended, until the investigation of the crash of the aircraft prototype is completed.
According to a source in the military-industrial complex, work under the state contract has been suspended since February 9. The assembly of the samples of the second and third flight of the Il-112V was also suspended.
It should be noted that the decision to continue the work will be made by the government agent (the Ministry of Defense of Russia) based on the results of the investigation.
In turn, another source in the defense industry clarified that the next stage of development work on the Il-112 aircraft is approaching, but after the results of the investigation into the accident, additional work on the engine and airframe may be required.
He explained that “in order not to do double work, not to spend additional funds and not to create preconditions for disrupting the deadlines for contractual obligations, the project was suspended until the conclusions of the commission, after its documentation.”
