Savannah Chrisley’s fraudster fiancé Jason Galanis’ murky past relationship and troubling finances revealed

Savannah Chrisley’s fraudster fiancé’s murky past relationship and troubling financial woes have now been revealed.

Chrisley, 29, announced that she was engaged and expecting her first child with her boyfriend on Tuesday, after just over a year of dating.

In the post, she referred to him simply as J, however, it was revealed soon after that her mystery man was Jason Galanis.

Galanis, 56, who is 27 years her senior, was sentenced to more than 15 years in prison in 2020 for his role in ‘two multimillion-dollar fraud schemes,’ but his sentence was commuted by President Donald Trump on March 28, 2025.

Prior to his stint in prison, which he served alongside his fiancée’s father, Todd Chrisley, he was married to his ex-wife, Monet Berger, for ten years before they separated in May 2016.

Berger, a real estate agent based in Los Angeles, filed for divorce in August 2017, citing irreconcilable differences as grounds for divorce.

In the petition for dissolution, obtained by the Daily Mail, she claimed he ‘forged’ her name ‘on more than one tax document’ and fell ‘victim of his crimes.’

She alleged she was ‘not aware of the extent of the communities’ liability’ during his marriage, and ultimately ‘received compensation from the Victim’s Defense Fund.’

In April 2018, the judgment was entered and an investigation into their marriage status resulted in findings that they were not legally wed since their marriage was not registered with the Department of Health – and their putative marriage was dissolved.

The court also found that he had over $100 million in liabilities, including a personal guaranty to a mortgage lender of approximately $8 to $9 million, a $37 million and $43 million forfeiture, $37 million restitution, and $12 million in taxes. The current status of these liabilities is not publicly available.

Galanis, who has yet to publicly address past claims against him, has already moved into Chrisley’s $2.2 million Nashville mansion, according to TMZ.

The 5,207sq ft sprawling mansion boasts five bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as a gourmet kitchen, wood and marble flooring, multiple walk-in closets, a patio, balcony and a two-car garage.

Chrisley’s new abode was purchased in February under an LLC, which is owned by the reality star, according to real estate records obtained by the Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Chrisley for comment.

Former reality star Chrisley first shared the news that she was engaged and expecting via Instagram on Tuesday morning, posting a montage of clips that showed her and her fiancé looking at their sonogram photo, kissing and cradling her baby bump.

‘I’ve prayed for this life. I’ve cried for this life. And there were moments I truly wondered if this life would ever be mine,’ she captioned it.

‘The past few years have taken me through fires I never imagined I’d have to walk through.

‘Seasons of heartbreak, loss and moments when I didn’t know if I would ever make it to the other side.

‘I wondered if I would ever find my forever… if I would ever feel safe enough to truly breathe again.

‘And then God sent me J. Right in the middle of the heartbreak. Before all the pieces were put back together. And somehow, he began healing parts of me he never broke.’

She described Galanis as her ‘protector, fiercest fighter and safe place’ before she went on to praise his ‘patience,’ adding: ‘Lord knows he needs it.’

‘[He’s] the one who makes me laugh even on my hardest days,’ she gushed. ‘For the first time in a long time, I feel safe. I feel fulfilled. I can finally exhale. I found my forever in you.’

She said that ‘watching the way’ Galanis ‘already loves and protects’ their baby has made her ‘fall in love with [him] in an entirely new way.’

It was later revealed that Galanis and Chrisley's dad served their prison sentences at the same Pensacola, Florida, facility over eight months in 2023. Chrisley and her fiance are seen with her parents and author and conservative speaker Angela Stanton King in April

‘Not a single doctor’s appointment missed. [He’s] constantly caring for me, talking about our baby and reminding me how beautiful my growing bump is. I thank God every day that this baby gets to call you daddy,’ she continued.

On her podcast, Chrisley explained that she and Galanis first met through ‘the world of politics’ last year while she was trying to get a presidential pardon for her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were found guilty of taking part in a $30 million tax fraud scheme and sentenced to 12 and seven years behind bars respectively in 2022. The couple was pardoned by Trump in May 2025, and served only two and a half years of their sentences.

It was later revealed that Galanis and Chrisley’s dad served their prison sentences at the same Pensacola, Florida, facility over eight months in 2023.

Chrisley explained on the podcast that when the pardon was granted in May 2025, Galanis reached out to her to congratulate her.

They started talking regularly after that and eventually began dating in July 2025; he proposed five months later in December while they were vacationing in the Cayman Islands, with her describing the ring as ‘insane and everything I ever wanted.’

She also addressed their ‘huge’ age gap during the podcast, stating: ‘He doesn’t act his age.

‘His body is great. His mind is even sharper. So I really don’t care, OK? This person is the love of my life. And it made all the heartbreak that I’ve gone through worth it.

‘I would rather 20 phenomenal years with someone than 50 meh years with someone.’

After news of their relationship sparked immense scrutiny, Chrisley took to Instagram to defend her unborn child.

‘You are not a headline. You are not a controversy,’ she wrote alongside a clip of her sonogram. ‘You are not defined by anyone’s past, anyone’s mistakes, or anyone’s opinions.’

‘You are innocent, deeply loved, and the greatest blessing God could have ever entrusted your daddy and I with,’ Chrisley continued.

‘No amount of noise in this world will ever overshadow the joy of being your mama,’ she wrote, adding, ‘You are my answered prayer. And I will never apologize for celebrating you.’
