‘Super Mario Galaxy’s Charlie Day Endorses Danny DeVito To Voice Wario: “Danny Would Fit So Well”

As The Super Mario Galaxy Movie expands on the Nintendo onscreen universe, Charlie Day wants to bring in a fellow It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star.
The actor, who reprises his voice role as Luigi in the recently released animated sequel, threw some gasoline on the fan campaign to cast Danny DeVito as Mario’s (Chris Pratt) antithesis and ultimate villain as he revealed his “dream casting pick” for the franchise.
“Danny would fit so well in this universe, and he would be a good Wario, I think,” Day told ScreenRant.
Day has starred alongside DeVito on It’s Always Sunny since the Oscar nominee joined the FX comedy with Season 2 in 2006.
As fans have nominated DeVito to voice Wario in an upcoming installment, the comedy legend has responded. “You never know what happens in the world. I’m up for a lot of things. I’m ready to do a lot of things, so, whatever’s coming, I look at, I see, I evaluate,” he told The Movie Dweeb in May 2024.

“Yeah, let [Pratt] know,” added DeVito. “You should tell him that I’m going to take them to the cleaners, but I should be in the movie.”
Meanwhile, Bowser voice actor Jack Black previously threw Pedro Pascal’s hat in the ring to voice Wario, as The Super Mario Bros. Movie premiered in 2023.
