The Traitors’ Tully Smyth Spills On Her Genius Unseen Strateg

Tully Smyth has revealed her secret strategy on The Traitors Australia that wasn’t shown on TV, and it’s actually kinda genius.

While she was quickly labelled “the most Faithful player” thanks to her vulnerability, team mentality and occasional tears at the Round Table, it turns out the Big Brother icon played a much more calculated game than viewers have given her credit for.

Tully told PEDESTRIAN.TV following her exit in Tuesday night’s episode that she actually worked out early on who the Traitors were and used that knowledge to her advantage.

“People think that I didn’t have a strategy or that I was silly for hanging out with Kirby [Bentley] all the time, but I was actually playing my own game. I was playing the Traitor Angel strategy,” she said, referring to the tactic where a Faithful secretly protects a Traitor instead of trying to banish them before taking them out in the endgame. 

“If you watch the show, you know what that means, but I definitely had a strategy. Just because you didn’t see a lot of it doesn’t mean I didn’t have one.”

Tully explained that, although viewers didn’t get to see her theories on TV, she was very vocal in her piece-to-camera interviews throughout the season that Kirby was a Traitor.

“If you rewatch it, I am always with Kirby. It was Kirby and I standing together at the challenges, and it was Kirby and I in the cars. I was keeping my friends close and my enemies closer. That was what I was doing,” she detailed.

“But the reason I didn’t share it with my fellow Faithfuls was because — have you seen how they’re playing? I knew that Josh [Packham] and Keira [Maguire] were Faithfuls, but I couldn’t trust them with my game plan.”

Tully also said that once she realised the Traitors were helping her by not murdering her in the conclave, she didn’t want to “rat them out” or shoot herself in the foot.

“This is the funny thing, right, because I was called the ‘most Faithful of all Faithfuls’, the ‘clean-skinned Faithful’, blah blah blah. Am I really a good Faithful if I was secretly playing quite a selfish game?” she remarked. 

Ultimately, Tully said she was “scared” to speak out against Kirby before making it to the endgame, and she would’ve played her final day differently if she’d known there was only one murder left.

“Had I known that was the last time she murdered, I probably would have played that whole day differently, because all I needed was to survive that one murder and then I could have told Josh my plan. We could have banished Kirby, and it would have been me, Keira and Josh sitting there at the finale,” she shared.

“But it’s all fair in love and war, and I’m not sad to be outplayed by Kirby, the Black Mamba. What was I expecting? I was trying to double-cross and blindside one of the best players of our time, so she got me before I could get her.”

With Tully murdered and Josh banished at the Round Table, only four contestants head into the finale: Kirby, Keira, Krissy Marsh and Rhys Nicholson. May the best player win.
