Tottenham finally agree £75m deal for Savinho one year on from initial bid – with the Man City winger taking Spurs’ summer spend past £300m!

Tottenham are believed to have inked a deal to sign Manchester City star Savinho for £75million, plus £10m-worth of add-ons, one year on from identifying the player as a transfer target.
The north London side, then helmed by Thomas Frank, had attempted to lure the Brazil star south last summer, but Savinho chose to continue to stay at the Etihad and play one more season under Pep Guardiola.
Spurs resumed their interest this summer, with Daily Mail Sport reporting on Wednesday that Roberto De Zerbi is also looking to add Savinho’s City team-mate Omar Marmoush to bolster their attacking ranks.
After finishing a second-consecutive season 17th in the Premier League, Tottenham have recruited bullishly this summer in a bid to stop the rot.
Spurs have spent £185m on bolstering their midfield with the eye-catching signings of Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, and West Ham’s Matheus Fernandes, with the club’s business not yet finished.
Signing Savinho will take the summer spend past £300m with just over one week to go until the window closes.

But Tottenham have also recouped a handful of their losses through key player sales, making £140m from the exits of captain Cristian Romero, Djed Spence, and Luka Vuskovic.
As well as Marmoush, Daily Mail Sport also reported on Wednesday that Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo has also been the focus of interest from the Reds’ Premier League rivals.
Liverpool, meanwhile, need to ensure they strengthen their own attacking options before allowing anyone to leave and would want a considerable fee to even consider selling Gakpo.
