Tyler Robinson hearing braces for bombshell video interview with his trans lover Lance Twiggs: Live updates
Updated:
Prosecutors in Tyler Robinson’s pre-trial hearing are expected to introduce a video interview conducted with the alleged assassin’s trans lover, Lance Twiggs, in court this week.
Twiggs will not testify in person during the week-long hearings, but prosecutors said they plan to introduce a recorded statement from the key witness into evidence.
It is unclear when Twiggs’ video testimony will be entered into court, but the interview was submitted as evidence earlier this year.
In crucial pre-trial hearings that began Monday, prosecutors set the stage for the high-profile case as they attempt to prove probable cause to take Robinson, 23, to trial.
On Tuesday evening, prosecutors presented an FBI report that linked Robinson’s DNA to the towel and also a screwdriver – with DNA from his transgender lover and roommate, Twiggs, also on the items.
Defense attorneys, however, spent more than three hours on Tuesday attempting to cast doubt on the findings in court.

Robinson’s defense attorneys push back on DNA evidence presented by prosecutors
After prosecutors presented DNA evidence that they claim ties Tyler Robinson and his transgender lover Lance Twiggs to the murder weapon, his attorneys tried to introduce doubt over the findings.
Robinson’s attorney Michael Burt cross examined Amanda Bakker, a forensic analyst for the FBI’s DNA lab, on Tuesday evening.
Burt grilled the forensic investigator over the potential for errors in DNA testing, and highlighted that Bakker’s report did not provide ‘absolute identification’ of Robinson.
‘She can’t match Mr. Robinson to the questioned samples,’ Burt said.
Prosecutors countered that the DNA definitively belonged to two people, with testing showing it certainly belonged to Twiggs and was extremely statistically likely to belong to Robinson.
They also insisted the line of questioning was beyond the scope of a pre-trial hearing, and said the result is not to prove Robinson’s guilt, but only to decide if there is enough evidence to take him to trial.
Court shown footage of Robinson when he turned himself in
Prosecutors introduced footage of Tyler Robinson turning himself in while questioning Utah State Bureau of Investigation Agent Brian Davis.
Davis said Robinson arrived at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with his parents and a family friend.
The agent also added that he was one of the investigators who interviewed Robinson’s mother.

It is unclear when Twiggs’ video testimony will be entered into court, but prosecutors included it on a list of evidence submitted earlier this year.
Prosecutors are also said to introduce an exhibit that is a photo of a ‘burnt note from apartment.’
On Wednesday, Robinson’s defense attorneys raised concerns about a 22-page transcript of a video that has not yet been introduced in court.
‘We provided the state, I want to say about a day and a half ago, with proposed redactions because we believe that portions of it are not admissible even in a preliminary hearing,’ the defense lawyer said.
The prosecutors said they intend to introduce that video today, and the judge agreed to address the defense’s concerns when the issue arises.

Judge Tony Graf started today’s hearing by reminding the prosecution and defense that the pre-trial hearing is scheduled to end by Friday at 5pm MT.
He then asked the attorneys to inform him of the remaining witnesses they will present.
Prosecutors said they will call Utah State Bureau of Investigation Agent Brian Davis to testify today, and added they may bring Utah Department of Public Safety Sergeant Jennifer Faumuina back to the stand.
Faumunia’s testimony will likely extend into Thursday, and then the prosecution’s presentation will be finished.
The defense team plans to call two remaining witnesses, both from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
