Influencer Catherine Ebs slammed as ‘out of touch’ for complaining small town supermarket didn’t live up to her standards

Influencer Catherine Ebs has been slammed as ‘out of touch’ and ‘tone deaf’ for complaining that a small town supermarket didn’t live up to her standards.
The social media star, 29, who lives in New York City, posted a now-deleted video showcasing her trip to the food store while she was staying in a ‘teeny tiny little town in the mountains’ over the July Fourth weekend.
She explained that she was on vacation and was forced to run to the local grocery store after her Sam’s Club order was canceled last minute.
She documented her trip to the ‘small town’ supermarket, but when she acted like it was a foreign experience to her, some people were left fiercely unamused.
Ebs also criticized the food options, slamming the store for not selling fresh produce or 100 percent beef hot dogs.
The video began with Ebs wandering through the store with a horrified look on her face.
‘I have a feeling this is not gonna be good news,’ she said, before adding: ‘This is a simulation.’
Later on in the clip, she was seen grabbing a bag of cherries as she scrutinized the fruit that was on sale.

‘Their fruit does not look good,’ she scathed. ‘All their fruit looks bad. Guys, this is not good.’
‘Low-key we should just order out because this is crazy,’ she added to her friend as they looked through the selection of hot dogs. ‘I don’t see any 100 percent beef. This is absolutely insane.’
Despite Ebs’s complaints, she ended up filling up an entire cart full of groceries that she purchased.
‘[That was] a crazy experience,’ she reflected afterwards. ‘An absolutely insane experience.’
While Ebs’s initial TikTok has been taken down, parts of it have been reposted by various accounts – and she has been fiercely slammed for her behavior.
‘Out of touch. She was rude and belittling,’ one user commented in response to Ebs’s clip.
‘To me it was mockery of the store the town the environment,’ another added.
‘So out of touch…’ slammed someone else, while a fourth wrote: ‘She was beyond rude.’

‘She was criticizing the store and acting like the store was a dump. I’m vacationing in a small town and loving everything about it,’ read a fifth comment.
In response to the backlash, Ebs commented: ‘I love any grocery. If you see my page I frequent groceries often because I love ’em so much.
‘What I don’t love is groceries on holiday weekend when they’re packed and a small amount of options at the very last and unexpected second.’
A sixth said: ‘Normally love [her] content, but this came across [as] tone deaf as someone who loves their local small town grocery store.’
The Daily Mail has reached out to Ebs for comment.
Originally from Minnesota, Ebs moved to New York with her husband Raphael Washington in February after previously living with him in Texas.
She previously came under fire after she called for the national guard to be brought in to handle rowdy Knicks fans celebrating across New York following the team’s win against the San Antonio Spurs during the NBA Finals last month.
The city descended into pandemonium as supporters went wild for the basketball team’s historic victory, which saw them surge back from 29 points down to mark the largest comeback in NBA Finals of all time.
But the bedlam was all too much for content creator Ebs, who demanded the military get involved and provide better safety measures for the public.
She and her husband watched the game live at Madison Square Garden and afterwards, she reposted a video showing some of the chaos around the city.
In a text overlay, the original poster of the montage of clips pleaded for ‘someone’ to ‘please call the national guard.’
Ebs shared it to her Instagram Stories and expressed her disgust and sorrow over how the city has been celebrating.

‘Mind you, they won,’ she added to her half a million followers. ‘I love NYC, but this has been eye opening and honestly really sad.’
Ebs then doubled down on her position in a series of videos after she was subjected to backlash over it.
‘The amount of people that are mad [over me] saying that it’s disgusting that there…,’ she began before trailing off.
‘People are saying, “Take New York out of your bio if you don’t like it here.” What? People are just so ignorant.
‘People are like, “This happens everywhere.” No, it doesn’t. Yes, some teams ride this hard but it’s a very small percentage.
‘It’s the city’s responsibility to protect absolutely everybody and this is just absolutely crazy.’
