What a CEO eats: Inside Showpo founder Jane Lu’s lavish fridge – and the strict system her husband has for milk and eggs

Fashion CEO Jane Lu has offered a rare look inside her family fridge – from her simple breakfast and her husband’s ‘strict system’ for milk and eggs to fancy ingredients including trays of sea urchins.

The Sydney mum-of-two built fashion empire Showpo, now worth $100million, after quitting her corporate job as an accountant to start a business that later failed – leaving her unemployed, broke and drowning in debt.

Despite her extraordinary rise to the top, Jane is always busy – whether it’s running her fashion company, appearing on Shark Tank or juggling her kids at home.

But a glimpse inside her fridge tells a different side – with her husband James Waldie taking charge of keeping the family’s food organised.

‘Everyone thinks I’ve got my life together, but let me show you what the fridge of a working mum actually looks like,’ Jane said.

The entrepreneur said her husband has a system for everything inside their fridge, with essentials like butter, cheese, eggs and milk stacked in a particular order – from newest to oldest according to their used-by dates.

‘I don’t have a really good system, but my husband’s really anal about these things,’ she said, joking: ‘You can see what my priorities are.’

‘Everything has a system.’

For breakfast, she keeps two peeled boiled eggs in a ziplock bag.

‘Hard boiled eggs for me to eat for breakfast, and I can take them on the go,’ she said.

There’s multiple tubs of vintage cheese slices, which is one of her husband’s favourite snack to have with crackers.

‘We have lots of cheese in case, God forbid we run out of cheese,’ she said, laughing.

Jane pulled out four trays of sea urchins, which she joked ‘looks like booger’.

In Australia, a single live sea urchin costs between $5 and $10, or $30 to $70 per tray, which typically contains five urchins.

On the top shelf, James has perfectly stacked the white water bottles, with the black bottles next to them.

‘I’m not allowed to touch those,’ Jane said.

‘There’s like a ‘casual’ wine fridge and four wine fridges,’ she said.

Her video has been viewed more than 40,000 times, with one joking: ‘I’m loving this content at your house. You’re just the right amount of unhinged.’

‘Wine for days – love it,’ another said, laughing.

‘I see where your husband got the cheese for the boat the other day… The simple things in life does him just fine,’ one pointed out, to which Jane replied: ‘He loves it.’

While one person asked: ‘Do you ever mix up the bottles to mess with his head?’ to which Jane responded: ‘We pick our battles.’
