The Libyan House of Representatives announces the formation of a “Libyan-Turkish” parliamentary friendship committee

A delegation from the House of Representatives, which visited Turkey recently, announced the formation of a Libyan-Turkish parliamentary committee, and an agreement to open air and sea routes between Benghazi and Turkey.

The House of Representatives delegation said in a statement that the two sides agreed to start implementing the arrangements and taking honest steps to achieve the results of the visit, noting that work is underway to open the Turkish Consulate in Benghazi.

The statement added that there is also a joint move to remove obstacles that prevent Turkish Airlines from returning to Libya and companies in general to complete the implementation of its previous contract.

Regarding travel procedures, the House of Representatives indicated that it had reached understandings with the Turkish side to ease procedural restrictions on the Libyan community and students in the Turkish state and to facilitate obtaining visas.

It is noteworthy that a parliamentary delegation was formed by Parliament Speaker-designate Fawzi al-Nuwairi, Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee Youssef al-Aqouri, Chairman of the Energy Committee Issa al-Arabi and other deputies, on a visit to the Turkish capital, Ankara, that will last for several days.
