Australia begins vaccinating children with COVID-19 vaccine

The vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 years with the MERS-CoV vaccine began in Australia.

Three million doses of the vaccine will be distributed to health centers before the new school year, February 2, so that 2.3 million children can receive their first dose, Health Minister Greg Hunt said. Children will receive two injections eight weeks apart.

To date, nearly 19 million adults in Australia (over 92%) have been vaccinated against coronavirus infection, and more than 3 million of them have already received a booster dose of the vaccine. Moreover, among adolescents aged 12-15 years, more than 910 thousand people (74%) have been fully vaccinated.
