Possible risk of immunity to corona virus

The head of the Serious Infection Laboratory, Professor of Virology, Alexander Chepurnov, spoke about studies that study the risk of forming self-aggressive immune cells after vaccination against Corona.

The specialist explained that this is a type of immune-mediated aggression against antibodies that occurs due to certain disorders that lead to immune errors. Due to the similarity of the structure of the proteins, for both the virus and some proteins of the body, such aggressiveness arises when some antibodies begin to actually bind to the proteins of the host.

The professor noted that vaccines against the Corona virus have not yet caused severe autoimmune reactions. He added that the center where he works wants to address this problem – it is planned to identify tissues that can become a target for antibodies.
