Le Pen suspends campaign for French election

French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen of the right-wing National Rally party announced the suspension of her active election campaign.

Le Pen said she had “just under forty signatures” from French lawmakers for her candidacy for the presidency. It should be noted that because of this she has problems with the assistance of sponsors for the needs of the campaign.

The necessity of collecting 500 signatures from representatives of different levels is one of the conditions for participation in the presidential elections in France. About 42 thousand people have the right to sign – we are talking about deputies of the National Assembly, representatives of local councils, mayors, senators and European deputies.

Marine Le Pen is a radical right-wing politician who managed to reach the second round of the presidential elections in 2017. She lost to Emmanuel Macron (34% to 66%).

The presidential elections in France are scheduled for April 10, 2022.
