Poland urges disarmament of Kaliningrad

The Polish military expert, former Deputy Defense Minister Romuald Sheremetev, declared the need to disarm Kaliningrad.

According to him, this must be done if Finland and Sweden join NATO. Because of this, the eastern flank of NATO will be strengthened. But Kaliningrad may interfere in consolidating the dominant position in the Baltic Sea in the new alliance of forces.

“This area needs to be demilitarized because NATO cannot sit on a powder keg between its legs. That is perhaps understandable,” Sheremetev said.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO countries intend to increase their military presence in the Baltic region in order to ensure the security of Sweden and Finland until the entry of these two countries into the alliance.
