Council of Europe commissioner asks UK not to extradite Assange to US

Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatovic has urged Britain’s Home Secretary Priti Patel not to extradite WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to the United States.

Mijatovic believes that the prospect of Assange’s extradition will have major implications for human rights and media freedom.

The delegate wrote on the website of the international organization. that the circumstances of his case have not been adequately considered, and that the US allegations are broad and vague.

“I urge you to take a decision against the extradition of Assange,” concluded Mijatovic.

Assange is the founder of WikiLeaks, who is famous for publishing classified and classified material from the governments of various countries, including the United States.

In the United States, Assange faces up to 175 years in prison for spreading classified information.
