Urgent| France: Protesters against the Gaza war set up tents at the Sorbonne University

Protesters, expressing their dissatisfaction with the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, headed to the Sorbonne University in the French capital, Paris, on Monday, chanting: "Free Palestine" At the university gates, while some students set up tents in the courtyard.

 

 

After days of similar protests at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Paris, The protest at the Sorbonne University is the latest sign that the demonstrations that broke out on American campuses are spreading to Europe, as the devastating war enters its seventh month.

 

 

The protests, which prompted the university to close the building for the day, were peaceful as the students’ goal was to urge the university, one of the oldest in the world, to condemn the actions committed by Israel.

A Reuters reporter saw the police being carried out. She was working to secure the street in front of the main entrance to the university, and there were about 50 students gathering in the place.
