Kuwait makes a contribution to the agency "UNRWA" Worth 30 million dollars

The State of Kuwait announced a voluntary contribution to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) amounting to $30 million, while it renewed its demand for the international community to recognize Palestine’s membership in the United Nations.

 

Minister Plenipotentiary Faisal Al-Enezi, Kuwait’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, said – during the open ministerial session of the Security Council under the item entitled (The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue) and according to the Kuwait News Agency today / Saturday / – that the voluntary contribution comes from a standpoint of responsibility. The moral and humanitarian State of Kuwait supports UNRWA, stressing the continuity and continuation of the Kuwaiti air bridge relief operations in order to meet the needs of all the Palestinian people.

 

He pointed out that with the increasing hardships that the people are experiencing Palestinian Today, some demand that the agency’s activities be limited and that its tasks be transferred to other places without feeling the effects of such extremist ideas on future generations and those in need of health care.

 

He touched on the decision to suspend several countries. Its support for UNRWA was in the wake of allegations made by the occupation, and it was later proven false, which led to those countries retracting the decision to suspend their voluntary contributions to the agency.

UNRWA was subjected to a campaign from the occupation, which claimed that 12 of the agency’s employees The number of about 30 thousand participated in Operation (Al-Aqsa Flood) on the seventh of last October, but the report of an independent UN investigation committee concluded that the occupation did not provide evidence to support its claims in this regard.

 

In the same context, Al-Enezi renewed the State of Kuwait’s demand for the international community to recognize Palestine’s membership in the United Nations, citing General Assembly Resolution No. (3236), which stipulates that Palestine be given full independence and sovereignty and is recognized by the organization. He explained that the resolution reaffirms the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. Especially the right to self-determination without external interference, as well as the right to national independence and sovereignty.

He added that the Israeli occupation was recognized by the United Nations as a member four years after the founding of this organization, while Palestine after five decades had passed. Since the issuance of the resolution, it is still demanding its right to be recognized by the United Nations as an independent state like the rest of the member states.

Al-Enezi expressed his regret that the United States used its veto power against an Algerian draft resolution recommending that the General Assembly accept the State of Palestine as a full member in the resolution. The United Nations.

The Deputy Permanent Representative of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations reiterated before the Council the necessity of adhering to the three basic demands, which are a ceasefire in Gaza, advancing the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid, and stopping the forced displacement and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.

Last week, the UN Security Council failed to adopt an Algerian draft resolution recommending that the General Assembly accept the State of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations. 12 of the Council’s 15 members voted in favor of the resolution, while the United States opposed it, and the United Kingdom and Switzerland abstained from voting.< /p>
