Russia and Ukraine exchanged bodies of dead soldiers

Ukraine returned the bodies of 99 dead Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel as a result of an exchange with Russia, reported Coordination headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war.

According to the headquarters, most of them, 77 people, died in the Donetsk direction, 20 in the Zaporozhye direction and two in the Kharkov direction.

As a result of the exchange, Russia returned the bodies of 23 dead soldiers, writes RBC with reference to State Duma deputy Shamsail Saraliev. He did not provide other details.

The last body exchange took place on March 29. Then the Russian side returned 29 bodies, Ukraine – 121.

In March, Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova announced the completion of examinations of the bodies of Ukrainian prisoners of war, who, according to Moscow, died at the end of January in the crash of an Il-76 plane in the Belgorod region. Moskalkova said that Ukraine was ready to accept the bodies, but whether they were handed over was not officially reported.
