French authorities confiscated a villa that belongs to Lyudmila Putina’s current husband, Russian businessman Arthur Ocheretny.

The French publication Challenges clarifies that the decision to confiscate was made after a request from the anti-corruption organization Transparency International to verify the origin of the funds with which the property was purchased.

It is noted that the estimated cost of Villa Suzanne, located on the coast of the Bay of Biscay near the resort of Biarritz, is 5.4 million euros, and its total area, including the territory adjacent to the mansion, is five thousand square meters.

The villa was purchased by Lyudmila Putina’s current husband in 2013, just as she and Russian President Vladimir Putin announced their divorce.

Putin’s second marriage was not officially announced. According to media reports, she married businessman Ocheretny in 2015.

  • In August 2022, associates of Alexei Navalny published an investigation according to which Arthur Ocheretny and Lyudmila Putina own two apartments in Malaga, Spain, with a total value of about 2 million euros, and an apartment in Davos, Switzerland, with an approximate value of 3.5 million euros. Investigators also found that Putina and Ocheretny’s income comes, in particular, from renting out premises in the center of Moscow, which brings them 250 million rubles a year.
