More than eight in 10 French people say they are in favor of vaccination, according to a study by Public Health France

A stable figure in recent years, despite the health crisis. In 2023, 83.7% of people questioned in mainland France said they were in favor of vaccination, according to a study published Monday April 22 by Public Health France (SPF). This figure was 84.6% in 2022 and 82.5% in 2021.

Although the membership rate does not change significantly depending on the age or sex of the person questioned, it does vary “depending on the level of education and financial situation”. So, “people with the lowest qualifications and income are those with the lowest vaccination adherence”notes SPF in its barometer, published on the occasion of European Vaccination Week.

According to the study, it is the vaccination against Covid-19 which concentrates most of the reluctance: 29% of those questioned say they “unfavorable” to this vaccination, compared to only 6% for influenza and 4% for hepatitis or 3% for papillomaviruses. However, vaccination coverage against influenza remains insufficient, warns Public Health France. Among the people most at risk of developing a severe form, only 47.1% have received their dose of vaccine during the 2023-2024 vaccination campaign, far from the objective of 75% set by the health authorities. .

Telephone survey conducted from February 14 to May 27, 2023, among 3,007 people aged 18 to 85, residing in mainland France.
