The Chinese Anti-Doping Agency (Chinada) is committed, through communicated published Friday April 26, at “actively cooperate” to the audit announced Thursday by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), in response to criticism of its management of the case of the 23 Chinese swimmers not sanctioned in 2021 despite their positive tests.

Implicated, in particular by the American agency Usada, in this affair, the AMA announced Thursday the launch “shortly” of a compliance audit in China with the mission of“evaluate the current state of its anti-doping program”. The World Anti-Doping Agency also announced that it would “invite a number of independent auditors from the broad anti-doping community to join the audit team for this mission”. She also appointed an independent prosecutor, the Swiss Eric Cottier, responsible for examining the management of the case at the time of the events.

“Chinada will actively cooperate with WADA’s upcoming audit and provide assistance where necessary.”, indicated in a press release the Chinese Anti-Doping Agency which, a few months before the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, had concluded that there was food contamination of its athletes. The Chinese agency assures that it “will work for the rights and interests of clean athletes and for integrity in sport”.

Three months before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the German channel ARD and the New York Times published an investigation last week revealing that 23 of the best Chinese swimmers tested positive for trimetazidine in early 2021, without being sanctioned. “La Chinada, in a rigorous and objective manner, immediately launched a thorough and comprehensive investigation using scientific methods”assures the Agency in its press release.
