President of the Security Council: We condemn any use of force to displace Palestinians in the Gaza Strip from their lands

   The current President of the UN Security Council, Ambassador Vanessa Fraser, said: We condemn any expansion of the scope of the conflict in Rafah and any use of force to displace citizens or transfer them outside their occupied territories, and this is considered a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and a war crime in accordance with the Vienna Convention.”

And she continued: We will continue to focus on the Gaza Strip and what is required there, releasing detainees, and providing humanitarian aid in order to bring peace, security, and stability to the region.”

Regarding the presence of positions in the Security Council warning Israel if it attempts to invade Rafah, she said, “ ; There are no settings for this command" Stressing that the Security Council was completely clear that it condemns this operation if it takes place and calls on all parties to exercise restraint, indicating at the same time that it was talked to Israel that this matter is a red line. Regarding new proposals being discussed in the corridors of the Security Council regarding the two-state solution and recognition of the Palestinian state, especially since there are European capitals that have made great efforts in this regard, she responded by saying, " Recognition of the Palestinian state is of great importance, and there is great sympathy, and the vast majority voted in favor of recognition, but there are many obstacles due to the use of the veto, but there may be other attempts.”

 

With regard to the presence of updates by UN Security Council resolutions regarding increasing the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, she said " There are no decisions yet, and we support all measures seeking this goal, and we appreciate all the efforts made.” “Indicating that humanitarian aid does not require decisions, and can be implemented immediately.”
