Australia expresses its concern about the possibility of Israel launching a ground attack on Palestinian Rafah
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong expressed on Monday her country’s concern about the possibility of Israel launching a ground attack on the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
Wong said – as reported by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) – Australia has made it clear that Israel should not take this path, in reference to the Israeli army’s request for civilians in eastern Rafah to evacuate the area.
Wong added that Australia, the G7 and many other countries have long called on the Prime Minister’s government Israeli Benjamin Netanyahu called for rescinding this decision.
It is noteworthy that the city of Rafah currently houses more than a million Palestinians who were displaced from their homes fleeing the scourge of war in the rest of the Gaza Strip.
