China’s ports record growth in the first quarter of 2024

BEIJING, 6 MAY / WAM / Official data issued by the Chinese Ministry of Transport showed that Chinese ports witnessed a steady growth in the volume of handling goods and containers during the first quarter of the current year 2024.

According to the data, cargo handling at Chinese ports recorded a total of 4.09 billion tons, achieving an increase of 6.1% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The China Media Group indicated in its report that the volume of handling foreign trade goods in these ports increased by 9.5% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 1.31 billion tons.

In terms of containers, China’s ports handled 76.73 million 20-foot standard containers during the first quarter, achieving a growth of 10% year-on-year.
