Met Gala 2024: the stars will surprise with the dress code of ‘The Garden of Time’ for the theme ‘Sleeping Beauties: The Awakening of Fashion’

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan. Fashion’s biggest night is back and stars are getting ready to hit the carpet in their best and most unique looks for this year’s Met Gala on Monday night.

The museum’s exhibit this year is “Sleeping Beauty: Reawakening Fashion,” which officials say includes pieces from its archives, some so delicate they will be placed in glass coffins like “Sleeping Beauty.”

The evening’s guests have been asked to follow a dress code and the theme is “The Garden of Time,” inspired by JG Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name.

This time flowers and more flowers are expected. Vintage will probably be big too.

At the helm is Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Her co-chairs this year are some great fashion icons, Chris Hemsworth, Bad Bunny, Zendaya and Jennifer Lopez.

The gala helps raise funds for the Met’s Costume Institute, the museum’s only department that must pay for itself. Last year, it raised about $22 million.

The big event also helps kick off the museum’s spring exhibition. This year it’s called “Sleeping Beauties: Fashion Awakening.” But we’re not talking about fairy tales or Disney princesses. It includes 250 items from The Costume Institute’s permanent collection, including some garments rarely seen in public.

The guest list for the notoriously private event is being kept secret until the event takes place. No phones allowed, which adds to the appeal.
