National meetings to combat anti-Semitism: "This is a beneficial initiative", "there is an urgent need for a collective start" believes Crif

The national conference for the fight against anti-Semitism, “it’s a beneficial initiative”, “there is an urgent need for a collective start”, believes Fabienne Bendayan-Chetrit, president of Crif Marseille-Provence (Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France). She was the guest of the show Ma France on France Bleu, Monday May 6.

This Monday, the government is bringing together the foundations of the fight against anti-Semitism. “We are in a situation which is particularly worrying for the Jews of France, describes Fabienne Bendayan-Chetrit. These meetings will have the merit of identifying the causes of anti-Semitism and above all of putting in place a certain number of actions which will make it possible to fight effectively.

In France there live 500,000 people of the Jewish faith. Anti-Semitic acts have increased by 1,000% since October 7, according to a Crif report. “Today we see that unfortunately all the actions that have been implemented until now have not made it possible to stem this phenomenon. There has been an explosion of anti-Semitic acts. Since the Second World War, we have not never seen such an outbreak. We have high hopes for this.continues Fabienne Bendayan-Chetrit.

According to her, “there is an urgent need for a collective start and for each citizen to tackle this difficulty today” And “everything that relates to teaching, education is an area where we must develop prevention, involve young people in journeys of memory. The idea is to also involve the youngest”she analyzes.
