"Education": "Entrepreneurship challenge" It attracts more than 230 projects

Abu Dhabi, 7 May / WAM / The Ministry of Education revealed that the number of new ideas and existing entrepreneurial projects participating in the “Entrepreneurship Challenge” launched by the Ministry under the umbrella of the Graduate Fund at the end of last February exceeded 230 projects submitted by university students and graduates who are citizens of the country, while the number exceeded About 2,500 people registered on the initiative’s electronic platform in less than two months.

Hamad Al-Aidaroos, Head of the Scientific and Technical Skills Department in the Ministry’s Advanced Future Skills Department, said that this initiative has received a remarkable response from university students and young graduates of the country’s citizens since its launch, and within a period not exceeding two months, the initiative has succeeded in attracting a distinguished group of ambitious young men and women, who They have new creative ideas and seek to transform them into successful and competitive entrepreneurial projects, while owners of existing entrepreneurial projects aspire to expand their projects and launch into new markets.

He added: “The participation in this initiative was distinguished by its diversity at all levels, and the percentage of male entrepreneurs reached about 55% of the total participation, while the percentage of female entrepreneurs’ participation reached 45%. We also received projects from students and citizen graduates from all the emirates of the country, covering 18 sectors.” And a different economic, social and scientific field, the most prominent of which were the information and communications technology sectors, education, the retail sector, and health care.”

He explained that this diversity confirms that entrepreneurship thought among our youth is not limited to a specific field or sector, but rather is, in its essence, a creative and innovative thought that must be embraced, developed, and helped to transform it into a successful reality.

In order to educate students about this challenge, its objectives, and the mechanism for participating in it, the Ministry of Education organized 9 workshops dedicated to university students and graduates during the months of March and April, which attracted students from all over the country and answered their inquiries about how to submit their entrepreneurial projects to participate in the Entrepreneur Challenge.

The workshops included interactive competitions for students to develop their entrepreneurial knowledge and skills, in addition to presentations from young Emirati entrepreneurs who have established successful projects to share their experiences with their colleagues who aspire to establish their own projects.

After the end of the registration period to participate in the challenge, all submitted applications will be evaluated in stages by specialized arbitration committees. The first stage includes assessing the quality of the submitted applications, and then reviewing them in detail and evaluating them based on specific criteria so that the projects qualified to move to the next stage of evaluation will be selected. During which interviews are conducted with applicants to present their projects and ideas before a jury specialized in evaluating projects.

The list will be shortened to about 30 projects. They will be invited to a 3-day training camp to provide intensive training in the world of entrepreneurship and prepare them to present their projects and ideas to the final judging panel. The 12 winning projects of the Entrepreneurship Challenge will be announced at the beginning of next June, and the challenge prizes will reach two million. Dirham.

It is worth noting that the Entrepreneurship Challenge is the first program of the Graduate Fund supported by the Ministry of Education, and was launched with the aim of supporting the entrepreneurship environment in the country, encouraging the spirit of initiative and innovation among young men and women, and enhancing their competitiveness so that they are able to turn their ambitions into reality.
