Education opens a new educational content studio in cooperation with UNESCO and Huawei

Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education opened the new educational content studio at the Professional Academy for Teachers, in cooperation with UNESCO and Huawei Egypt, at the headquarters of the Professional Academy for Teachers in 6th of October, within the framework of the “Schools Open to All Supported by Technology” project. In conjunction with World Digital Learning Day.

This came in the presence of Dr. Zainab Khalifa, Director of the Professional Academy for Teachers, Dr. Hegazy Idris, Advisor to the Minister of Education for Literacy and Lifelong Learning, Dr. Noria Sanz, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, and Mr. Ma. Ben, Head of Government Relations and Strategic Communications at Huawei Egypt, San Tao, Head of the Quality Management Sector at Huawei Egypt, Doaa Abu Naim, Education Officer at UNESCO, Dr. Hossam Hamdy, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Helwan University, Mahmoud Al-Fouly, Director of the Directorate of Education in Menoufia, and a group of employees of the Ministry, the Professional Academy for Teachers, and UNESCO. And representatives of Huawei.

In her speech during the opening, Dr. Zainab Khalifa, Director of the Professional Academy for Teachers, reviewed the most important efforts made by the Academy in the professional development of teachers in cooperation with UNESCO and Huawei to make the project a success, most notably the establishment of the Educational Content Studio, appreciating the efforts Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, for his great support for the Academy and its preparation to be a Category II UNESCO center, and his interest in developing its institutional performance, adding an international dimension to its services, and enhancing its regional role through international cooperation with relevant institutions and organizations.

Zainab added The project supports “technology-supported open schools” by designing, testing, and expanding the scope of open school systems that can link schools and education at home, to ensure continuity and quality of learning. The project also aims to confront educational challenges by integrating learning platforms. Digital content, compatible with school curricula, digital competencies for teachers, and dissemination of open education models through national digital learning policies.

She stressed that the academy adopts a specific plan that ensures that it plays a major role in achieving the continuous growth of all members of the educational staff and raising their level. Academic, professional and cultural, and addressing educational issues related to teacher preparation and professional development in Egypt and the Arab world, and contributing to the exchange of scientific and professional experiences between workers and researchers in the fields of training and qualification of teachers and administrative leaders, in a way that contributes to the development of the education system and in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The Academy Director also confirmed that measures have been taken by the Academy to keep pace with this by converting the promotion programs provided to teachers into digital programs presented through the Academy’s platform, as well as programs for supervisory positions.

For her part, she expressed Dr. Noria Sanz, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, expressed her happiness with the opening of the studio, the effective partnership between UNESCO and the Ministry of Education in Egypt, and the great support given by Dr. Reda Hegazy to the project of open schools supported by technology for all, stressing the importance of the role of the private sector in partnering with educational institutions and providing… Support for schools and teachers.

Sans also stressed the necessity of employing the positive side of technology in the educational process and benefiting from the services provided by the studio in supporting teachers and students in schools, in addition to conducting a group of studies and research that support the use of technology in education and providing… Digital content and supporting teachers’ competencies, noting that employing technology has positive and negative effects.

Noria Sanz continued: “We are happy to build a new cornerstone in cooperation with the Academy and Huawei, as we are well aware of Egypt’s weight in the region and its pivotal role.” As one of the founding members of UNESCO, we have constantly worked to establish various partnerships with the Egyptian government and other stakeholders, including the private sector, with the aim of promoting the digital transformation of education.

She indicated that UNESCO is working to support the teachers of the Ministry of Education. And technical education by better integrating information and communications technology into their educational practices, developing digital education policies, in addition to preparing digital educational materials in line with the local community. UNESCO is also working to activate its strategy to integrate technology into education through three methods that include creating smart regulatory frameworks that protect Human rights, and providing the necessary skills for teachers and learners to deal with digital environments, as over the past decade it provided support to 40 countries in developing digital competency frameworks for teachers, and collecting data to publish reports on educational technologies.

For his part, San Tao stressed , Head of the Quality Management Sector at Huawei, said that the company is keen to implement all aspects of the Supported Technology for All project, adding that Huawei supports the development of education, technology and digital learning, expressing his happiness at the opening of the educational content studio that aims to build the capabilities of teachers.

Also, San Tao stressed the importance of the technological revolution in education, pointing out that the studio represents a testimony to the level of technology in education and responds to the needs of teachers and students.

During the celebration, a video was shown about the origins of the studio and the stages of its development, and a documentary film about UNESCO and Huawei project for schools open to all.
