Did Hugh Jackman & Ryan Reynolds Do A Shoey From A Fake Shoe? A Very Important Investigation

Fans are questioning whether Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman pulled off an un-Australian move after performing a shoey that might not have counted as a shoey at all.
The Deadpool & Wolverine stars took to Instagram this week to share footage of themselves joining in the time-honoured tradition of drinking a beer from your shoe — an Aussie custom up there with hills hoist-slung goon bags and Bunnings sausage sizzles.

To the untrained eye, it at first appears as though the actors completed the shoey with ease (even though you’d think those Wolverine claws would get in the way?), but a closer inspection reveals they may have taken a hygienic shortcut. Blasphemy, I tell you!
We got a close look at the shoe in a second post shared alongside the footage, and Hugh is holding what looks like an exceedingly small Converse sneaker engraved with the Deadpool & Wolverine logo.
Even beyond the fact that it’s a prop shoe, fans speculated that it was also made of ceramic, which is two strikes in the book of the ISA (International Shoey Authority).

Purists flocked to the comments to disqualify Hugh and Ryan’s shoey, with some declaring it’s “not a real shoe” and others telling them to use an “actual shoe, not one made for this”.
Another fan, presumably a member of the ISA, wrote: “A shoey is done with the shoe off one’s own foot”. It’s Shakespearean, and it’s words to live by.
Others labelled the performance “piss-weak”, asked the stars to “do better”, and said “using an ornament doesn’t count”. I haven’t seen such a fierce outcry about Aussie pride since Shapes discontinued its original flavours in the fated autumn of 2016.

Regardless of whether it breached shoey standards, Hugh pumped his fist in the air as if to claim victory, but he might want to check with Daniel Riccardo or that MP who did one in parliament to see whether he can actually join their ranks.
It’s a shame, really, since the Wolverine star could’ve been crowned Shoe Jackman.
Anyway, since they’re on a run of Aussie traditions, I’d love nothing more than to see Hugh and Ryan dancing to “Eagle Rock”, because I’ve got to know what Wolverine and Deadpool are packing!
