Trump unleashes fury on Supreme Court he built as he fumes they ‘set America back a hundred years’ after voting defeat

Donald Trump has issued a vicious attack on the Supreme Court after the justices shot down his gambit to change mail-in voting practices weeks before the midterm elections. 

The President’s lawyers asked the court to allow his executive order establishing US Postal Service rules letting the government ‘check’ mail-in ballots against a central repository of registered voters in each state – and reject ballots from voters not listed in the database.

The appeal was the third time the Trump administration asked the high court to intervene – in a sign of its outsized interest in the matter. The court ruled against the gambit in an emergency order issued on Monday evening. 

‘The damage done to America is incalculable, and they know this, just as everyone else does – It is an irreparable and unrecoverable harm!’ Trump lashed out against the ruling on Tuesday morning. 

‘This Supreme Court is bullied and cajoled by the Radical Left into making decisions that have set America back at least a hundred years.’

He complained that the justices noted in the ruling that changing voting laws ahead of the elections left a time crunch. He called the current state of mail-in voting a corrupt ‘nation destroying scam’ that makes the US ‘a laughing stock all over the world.’

‘It is a big loss for Republicans, and America itself, and makes cheating by the Radical Left “Dumocrats,” on Mail-In Ballots, a much easier thing to do – And now they have an open field to do so!’ 

Just two members of the high court – Justice Samuel Alito and Justice Clarence Thomas – dissented. Trump thanked them in his post, calling them both ‘legends.’

Notably, the three justices appointed by Trump bucked the President on this critical ruling, further fueling the president’s rage. 

Justice Brett Kavanaugh, a Trump appointee, authored a short concurrence with the majority – suggesting that the USPS might have the power to implement rules on mail-in ballots. 

But he wrote election officials ‘do not have sufficient time to reasonably implement the rule before’ the November midterm elections.

The two other Trump-appointed conservatives, Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch – and Chief Justice John Roberts – voted with the liberal justices to slap down Trump’s attempt in a move sure to anger the President. 

‘These are not the people I interviewed to serve on the United States Supreme Court, they are merely a shell of their original selves, a Court that is costing the United States Trillions of Dollars with shockingly bad rulings that are of such magnitude that it won’t be easily possible for our Country to recover or heal,’ Trump said of those he placed on the bench. 

Critics warned that the new USPS rules desired by Trump, and their eleventh-hour implementation, risked creating widespread chaos in the run-up to Election Day, and could disenfranchise millions of US voters who cast their ballots by mail. 

Trump has had several high-profile cases before the Supreme Court during his second term, including his challenge to birthright citizenship and his expansive use of tariff authorities – both which were ruled against. 

The court’s rejection of the President’s cases has led to much animus between the pugnacious Trump and the typically quiet justices. He has taken to calling them names online when they hand him a ruling he deems unfavorable. 

In his statement, Trump ridiculed the ‘horrible’ tariff ruling and the birthright citizens decision as a ‘complete and total disaster.’   

There have been at least 42 emergency applications before the Supreme Court related to the Trump administration during 2025 and 2026, according to Ballotpedia.
