A man today admitted sexually assaulting a woman who was drugged and raped by her own husband without her knowledge.
Unemployed Sean Peers, 38, of Stockport, was due to go on trial later this month along with 11 other men who all deny various allegations involving sexual offending against the same woman.
Peers appeared at Minshull Street Crown Court today and changed his plea to guilty to a single offence of assault by penetration.
He was told by Judge Maurice Greene that he would now be subject to a notification requirement under the Sexual Offences Act, and was allowed bail to be sentenced at a later date.
The husband, who is in his 60s and cannot be identified to protect the victim’s identity, appeared via videolink from prison at the same court today and admitted a further rape and sexual assault against her.
He broke down in tears last month as he admitted 60 charges involving drugging and raping his wife over a 20-year period.
He also admitted administering a substance ‘with the intention of stupefying or overpowering’ her ‘so as to enable’ his wife to engage in sexual activity between November 2004 and October 2025.
The husband, who has now pleaded guilty to a total of 62 charges, will also be sentenced at a later date.
