Washington and Pyongyang without preconditions….

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the United States, in light of North Korea’s recent missile launches, is ready to sit at the negotiating table with Pyongyang without preconditions, while building its military capabilities in the region to protect itself and its allies.

“We are ready to sit at the negotiating table and discuss the situation without preconditions,” Kirby said.
We need to make sure that our allies on the Korean peninsula are strong. We remain committed to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, as well as to negotiations with Pyongyang.

He stressed that the presidential administration, along with diplomats, is seeking to ensure its “full military readiness” in the region in response to the continued threat of missile launches from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
