Armed attacker on the run in Sydney after two men were brutally stabbed in early-morning assault
Police officers and the force’s dog unit are hunting for an armed attacker after two men were stabbed in Sydney’s west.
Emergency services rushed to James Ruse Drive in Clyde, at about 3.40am following reports of a stabbing.
On arrival, police found two men inside a Kia van suffering from injuries.
A 54-year-old man had been stabbed multiple times in the neck and cheek, while a 36-year-old man had reportedly been punched several times.
Paramedics treated the two men at the scene before taking them to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
The injured men were transporting a 28-year-old Tongan national from Villawood to Sydney Airport when the incident occurred, police said.
Based on the injured men’s accounts, the attacker was of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, with a large build.
He was unshaven and wearing a black coat, black track pants and black and white sneakers.’

The incident has sparked a major police investigation, while the suspect remains on the run.
Police attached to the Cumberland Police Area Command, with the assistance from the Dog Unit are actively searching the area.
A crime scene has been established with an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident underway.
