Beloved 90s sitcom star who worked with Bruce Willis steps out in LA at 74… can you guess who?

A beloved 90s sitcom actor who hails from New York was recently spotted celebrating his birthday in Los Angeles.
The 74-year-old star had a fruitful career in the late 80s and through the 90s, and has picked up smaller roles in more recent years.
He appeared in the Bruce Willis-led film Die Hard in 1988, replacing Gene Hackman in the role of Sergeant Al Powell.
Relocating to California for the opportunity, he subsequently planted roots and continued living there as his career blossomed.
Two years later, this star went on to reprise Sergeant Powell in the sequel, 1990’s Die Hard 2.

It’s Reginald VelJohnson, best known for his role as the lovable patriarch Carl Winslow in Family Matters.
The show aired from 1989-1998, and was a spinoff of the series Perfect Strangers.
VelJohnson was seen out and about at two separate times on August 16, his 74th birthday.
The Daily Mail has reached out to reps for the actor for comment.
At one point he wore black shorts, a black T-shirt and red sneakers with a multicolor print while walking with a cane as a loved one gave him a hand with walking.
He also stepped out in black joggers, a different black T-shirt, and black sneakers, and he topped his casual outfits with a baseball cap each time.
VelJohnson appeared in the 1989 comedy-action film Turner & Hooch, which starred Tom Hanks.
He reprised the role of David Sutton in 2021 for the Disney Plus reboot series with Josh Peck starring as the titular character.
Before that, the longtime entertainer starred in 2020’s The Very Excellent Mr Dundee as well as the TV movie The Christmas Lottery.

The actor was casually dressed in black joggers and a black T-shirt during one of two outings. He wore a hat and walked with a cane
He also guest-starred on the CBS comedy series Mom in 2019.
And he voiced the character Jerry in 3Below: Tales of Arcadia that same year.
VelJohnson additionally provided his voice for the animated show Lazor Wulf, appearing as God.
In September 2024, he was revealed as a cast member on season 33 of the competition series Dancing with the Stars.
He and professional dancer Emma Slater were axed in a double-elimination episode after four weeks.
This past June he told his Instagram followers he was available for bookings on Cameo, where celebrities are commissioned to record personalized messages for special occasions.
