Buffalo Bills dealt major injury scare as quarterback Josh Allen is caught limping off the field

Buffalo Bills fans were dealt a scare on Sunday when quarterback Josh Allen was seen heading to the locker room early in the first half. 

The reigning NFL MVP was captured on the TV broadcast limping off the field accompanied by members of the training staff with time remaining in the second quarter of the Bills’ clash against the Cleveland Browns. 

Allen’s early exit came after the training staff had spent time working on his leg, according to Ian Rapoport. 

He went down just before halftime with what appeared to be a lower body injury after taking a long sack on the Bill’s final drive of the half. 

Allen was seen holding his leg on the play and was evaluated by trainers. He was then seen gingerly hobbling to the locker room with his right shoe off.

The play caller reportedly underwent x-rays on his foot and was eventually cleared to return to play for the second half. 

The quarterback was 6-of-7 for 86 yards in the first half, also taking four carries for 17 yards, with the Bills leading 20-10.  

It came as a major scare for the Bills who are chasing a seventh-straight playoff berth against the Browns. 

Buffalo could seal their playoff spot with a win and either an Indianapolis loss or tie, or a Houston loss or tie. The Bills would also clinch with a tie against Cleveland and either Indianapolis or Houston losing.
