Cabin on Delta flight fills with fumes as pilots make emergency landing in Chicago
A Delta flight had an emergency landing in Chicago, Illinois after fumes were detected in the cabin on Tuesday afternoon.
Flight crew on Delta Flight 1390 from New York declared an emergency to receive priority handling from air traffic control, the airline said to NBC.
All 125 passengers and 5 crew members got off the plane safely after O’Hare Airport granted permission for a priority landing.
‘At Delta, the safety of our customers and crew comes before everything else. After fumes were detected in the cabin, our crew followed established procedures to land safely in Chicago,’ Delta told CBS.
The cause of the fumes is unknown.
The aircraft, an Airbus 220, will be taken out of service and evaluated further, Delta told NBC.
