Paramount Animation has given Dan Trachtenberg‘s untitled Freddy the 13th adaptation an appropriate release date.

After announcing the untitled animated family horror comedy at Annecy International Animation Film Festival last month, Paramount has set the project based on Yehudi Mercado’s indie comic for a Friday, Oct. 13, 2028 release.

Directed by Trachtenberg and co-directed by Mercado, the movie follows a family vacation that turns into a nightmare when fun Uncle Freddy accidentally kills the Boogeyman and takes on his powers.

Paramount Animation described the feature as PG-rated horror delivering “scares and laughs to the whole family.”

Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane, Predator: Badlands) will also produce the animated project with longtime collaborator Ben Rosenblatt.

The project announcement comes four months after Trachtenberg signed a three-year producing and directing first-look deal with the animation division’s parent company Paramount Pictures.
