Sophia Bush makes red carpet debut with girlfriend Ashlyn Harris at starry White House Correspondents’ Dinner – after coming out as queer and DENYING rumors they had affair

Sophia Bush made her red carpet debut with girlfriend Ashlyn Harris at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner on Saturday night in Washington D.C. on Saturday night.

The One Tree Hill star, 41 — who recently came out as ‘queer’ — coordinate with the soccer star, 38, in black looks.

Bush wowed photographers in a strapless, floor-length gown with large buttons down the front.

The actress, with her silky brunette hair worn down, often stopped to whisper in her partner’s ear during their red carpet time.  

Ashlyn oozed confidence a black suit with some texture to the jacket and gold spikes on it.

Her short, blonde hair was curled perfectly and styled off her face to show off her sun-kissed makeup and radiant smile. 

On Saturday the couple also attended the White House Correspondent’s Garden Brunch alongside such luminaries as Fran Drescher and Vanderpump Rules’ alums Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright. 

The One Tree Hill alum, 41, looked gorgeous in a strapless light green midi dress with different shades of green flowers all over it.

The Good Sam star paired the dress with a pair of black strappy sandals with one thin strap across her toes and another around her ankle.

Ashlyn, meanwhile, was pretty in a pale pink, double-breasted suit with gold buttons on the jacket.

The fairly new couple was also took the time to snap a photo with Kasie Hunt, Megan Murphy, Hilary Rosen and Joanna Coles at the annual event.

They could also be seen mingling with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, the first openly queer person to occupy that position.

Earlier this week, Sophia debuted an essay in Glamour magazine in which she came out as queer.

Not only that, she confirmed that her close friendship with Ashlyn was much more than that – they are a couple. 

‘I finally feel like i can breathe,’ she wrote. 

The Chicago PD actress admitted that she is ‘in love’ with Ashlyn whom she became friends with in 2019 then started a romantic relationship with in October 2023 after her marriage to Grant Hughes fell apart and Ashlyn left her wife Ali Krieger.

‘I didn’t expect to find love in this support system,’ she wrote, sharing that her bond with Harris was rare and beautiful. ‘I don’t know how else to say it other than: I didn’t see it until I saw it.’

She also explained that her queerness was not a secret to her ex-husbands. She told both Grant and her first husband Chad Michael Murray.

Sophia also wrote about the way her relationship wish Ashlyn blossomed into a romance, reflecting that ‘I think it’s very easy not to see something that’s been in front of your face for a long time when you’d never looked at it as an option and you had never been looked at as an option.’

She candidly confessed: ‘What I saw was a friend with her big, happy life. And now I know she thought the same thing about me.’

Sophia was frank about the complicated process of her and Ashlyn becoming a couple – after the collapse of their respective marriages.

‘People looking in from the outside weren’t privy to just how much time it took, how many painful conversations were had,’ she wrote. ‘A lot of effort was made to be graceful with other people’s processing, their time and obligations, and their feelings.’

However once rumors about their romance began to seep into the public eye, Sophia was subjected to ‘blatant lies and violent threats’ and accused of being a ‘home-wrecker,’ which she staunchly denies.

She slammed trolls ‘who said I’d left my ex because I suddenly realized I wanted to be with women — my partners have known what I’m into for as long as I have (so that’s not it, y’all, sorry!).’
