Emergency response as man is shot in the head in western Sydney
A man has been fatally shot in Sydney’s west.
Emergency services were called to a home on Bruce Street, in Merrylands West, about 3.15pm on Wednesday.
It’s understood the man was shot in the head and died at the scene.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attempted to revive him but he couldn’t be saved.
He has not been formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 30s.
A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
Detective Superintendent Simon Glasser is expected to share an update at 5.30pm.
It’s believed the incident was a targeted attack, possible linked to organised crime.
